On Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at approximately 10:46 a.m., Duncanville police officers responded to a robbery in the area of Echo Drive and Oriole Boulevard. Preliminary information indicated that the caller and the suspect knew each other. The suspect was observed running into his residence and then refused to cooperate with the officers on scene. The Duncanville SWAT team responded to the location and began negotiations, ultimately ending with the suspect voluntarily exiting his residence and being taken into custody without further incident.

The 2018 Duncanville Bond Program was approved by voters in November of that same year. The program originally consisted of 10 projects organized into four propositions. Proposition B included the allocation of $5,033,000 for the reconstruction of a segment of Danieldale Road. The reconstruction project includes replacing the water lines beneath the surface as well as new pavement. Once complete, the configuration will be a four-lane divided roadway with hike and bike trails along the north and south sides.

On Sunday, January 15, 2023, at approximately 2:26 a.m., Duncanville Police Officers responded to a call for service regarding a shooting with injuries at 1547 Sunrise Lane. Within minutes, officers arrived at the location and discovered an adult male suffering from a single apparent gunshot wound. The officers provided immediate medical assistance to the male and summoned Duncanville Fire Department paramedics. However, shortly after their arrival, paramedics pronounced the male deceased at the scene.

At a hearing this morning, the UIL State Executive Committee voted to suspend Coach David Peavy for one year for playing a student that the Committee determined was an ineligible player. In addition to Coach Peavy’s suspension, the Committee determined that the Duncanville Boys Basketball program forfeits all games in which the student played and therefore forfeits the 2022 Conference 6A Boys Basketball State Championship.
