Winter Storm Fern brought heavy snow, ice, and record-low temperatures throughout many of the areas that Atmos Energy serves from Jan. 23 through Jan. 27. Because of the prolonged cold, your natural gas usage may have increased as your heating system, water heater, fireplace, and other gas appliances worked harder to keep your home comfortable. This increased usage may result in a bill that’s higher than what you typically see.

Government Finance Officers Association is pleased to announce that City of Duncanville has received GFOA’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting (PAFR Award) for its Popular Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2024.

To support community members who may need a warm, safe place during the day, the City of Duncanville will open a Warming Center at the Duncanville Recreation Center on Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Duncanville departments remained busy this week, completing dozens of building, health, and rental inspections, supporting major public safety operations, and offering robust programs at City facilities, the library, and parks and recreation while advancing BloomFest planning and economic development initiatives. Duncanville stayed busy this week with 60 building inspections completed, 44 permits issued, and continued progress on major infrastructure projects including emergency generator installation and park improvements. Public safety and emergency management teams advanced winter storm preparedness efforts, regional coordination, and ongoing training initiatives to strengthen community response. Duncanville staff provided around-the-clock winter storm response, with Emergency Management operating the EOC continuously, Fire leadership and crews monitoring conditions and answering 155 calls, and Public Works and Utilities maintaining 24-hour coverage to keep roads, water, and city infrastructure safe and functioning during Winter Storm Fern.
