On Monday, February 26, the City of Duncanville launched its Employee Advisory Team (EAT). The Employee Advisory Team members are a collaborative body of individuals who endeavor to provide innovative solutions, open lines of communication, and plan activities to enhance employee morale. The team aims to forge pathways to an open, respectful, participative, and inclusive work environment for all staff. City Manager Doug Finch provided welcome remarks and introduced himself to EAT members.

Accounting & Reporting – Weeks of February 22 – February 28: 

  • Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) payments: 35 invoices were processed, totaling $473,404.49
  • Check Payments: 38 invoices were processed, totaling $62,780.00

Armstrong Park

  • The pour in place playground surface was completed.
  • The irrigation installation is underway at Kidsville.
  • Pavilion tables at Kidsville have been reconfigured.

Duncanville Fieldhouse

  • The Summer Camp documents are completed for approval – Texas Health & Human Services (THHS) Summer Camp Childcare Exemption application.
  • Equal Harts AmeriCorps Partnership MOU, Texas Department of Agriculture Summer Camp Food Service MOU, Duncanville Parks and Recreation Food Service Agreement, and the Wilcher Corporation Service Agreement.
  • Cintas completed the Fieldhouse annual fire and equipment inspection including the following areas: fire extinguishers, emergency lights, exit signs, fire alarms and the sprinkler system.
  • The 2024 B.O.S.S. Summer Camp registration begins on April 15.

  • Next-up Youth BB League, three courts – Friday 7:00 PM to 10:00PM
  • The Answer Basketball Tournament, three courts – Saturday 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  • North American Grappling (NAGA) Jiu Jitsu Tournament, three courts – Saturday 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM 
  • Great American Shootout (GASO) Basketball Tournament, six courts – Sunday 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Masters League Adult BB League, three courts – Sunday 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM

  • Restaurant Change Ownership, new occupancy:103 N. Cedar Ridge, Suite #200
  • Storage for Auto Glass and Equipment, new occupancy: 1110 Explorer St., Suite E
  • New Tenants: 217 E. Camp Wisdom Rd., Suite B
  • HVAC Sales Office, new occupancy: 1223 Crestdell Dr., Suite C
  • Church, new occupancy: 134 N. Main St.


Street Division

  • The void located at the edge of the alley at Rolling Ridge Ln. has been filled.
  • A storm sewer drainage pipe at the intersection of Jellison Blvd. And Roundtop Blvd. has been installed to facilitate drainage.

Capital Improvement Projects (CIP)Cer Construction

  • SYB Construction has completed the project. The final pay application and release of retention are being processed.

Cherry Alley Phase 1

  • CCGMG continues with sub-grade preparation.
  • Forming for concrete placement for driveway approaches to resident driveways has begun.

E. Danieldale Rd. Reconstruction and Utility Improvements Project

  • The project is substantially complete; staff is working with the contractor to complete all remaining items.
  • Final project acceptance is in March.
  • Completion of the monument is slightly delayed and is now scheduled for completion in March.

Right-of-Way Utility Construction

  • Oncor and their subcontractor, Great Southwestern Construction, are replacing power poles alone E. Wheatland Rd. And Magnolia Ln.
  • Oncore and their subcontractor, Pike Electric, are replacing power poles along Azaelea Ln. And Acton Ave.
  • Atmos and their subcontractor are performing a gas leak survey throughout the City.
  • Atmos crews and their subcontractors are responding to leak repairs.
  • The number of leak repair permits this year is 41 for Atmos and their sub-contractors.
