Weekly Update: March 15, 2024
DUNCANVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT
The Fire Department responded to 135 calls for service in the past seven days, which included:
  • 100 Emergency Medical Services (EMS) calls
  • 1 building fire
  • 1 grass fire
  • 10 motor vehicle accidents
  • 1 request for assistance

The Department has three vacancies. The Department has exhausted our current Civil Service Eligibility List.  We will work with HR to obtain another Civil Service Entrance Exam date as soon as possible.

Firefighter Evan Barger, who was deployed on the West Texas wildfires, has returned to the Department, and returned to his assigned shift.


DUNCANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT

Professional Staff and Volunteers toured the Tri-City Animal Shelter & Adoption Center.

If you want to help the Tri-City Animal Shelter, they always need blankets, dog and cat food, and newspapers.



 FISCAL SERVICES

Accounting & Reporting – Weeks of March 7 – March 13: 

  • Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) Payments: 56 invoices were processed, totaling $427,165.16.
  • Check Payments: 48 invoices were processed, totaling $234,715.01.

Projects

Armstrong Park

  • The installation of the playground structure has been completed.
  • Pillars comprised of the Kidsville wood were installed.
  • Shade structure sails at the playground, and Splashpad has been installed.
  • Sitting areas and the walkway at the pump house are installed.
  • Restroom upgrades are complete.

Parks

  • Staff installed new bleachers at Alexander Park.
  • Soccer goals have been installed on the fields.
  • Staff painted and repaired fencing at Waterview Park Trail.

Duncanville Fieldhouse

The 2024 B.O.S.S. Summer Camp registration begins on April 15.

Princess Tea Party – Saturday, March 23, 2024 | 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Join us for a magical day with your favorite princesses! Escape to a magical world of fun, laughter, and amusement. Snacks will be served, and guests will have the opportunity to visit one-on-one with various princesses and take photos! Tickets are on sale now! $15.00 per child and $10.00 per adult. Fire Station

  • The perimeter fence on the east side of Fire Station No. 271 has all the posts and top rail installed. The installation of the chain link fabric has begun.

Cherry Alley Phase 1

  • Driveway approaches are complete. The contractor placed the three driveways on Wednesday, March 13.

  • The herbicide applied the herbicide needed to prepare for hydro mulch. 

Wren Ave. and Oriole Blvd. Water Main Replacement I-20 Aerial Crossing

  • Texas Standard Construction completed the removal of pavement on Oriole Blvd. at Wren Ave. for the north side bore.
