Arts Commission
The Duncanville Arts Commission and the Duncanville Community and Economic Development Corporation (DCEDC) invite you to an evening of art, culture, and connection at the Arts & Business Mixer on June 11, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Olden Year Museum, 1050 N. Duncanville Road in Duncanville.
This free, public event gives guests the opportunity to explore a fascinating collection of more than 500 mechanical music instruments, including gramophones, calliopes, hurdy-gurdies, and more.
Bites and beverages from Odom’s Bar-B-Que will also be provided.

Rental Weekly Inspection Report
A total of 41 rental inspections were scheduled: 14 passed, 27 failed, and 0 were canceled. The primary reasons for the failed inspections were the absence of GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) protection, missing carbon monoxide and smoke detectors, and ground rods and water heaters that were not up to current code.
13 Single Family Rental Certificates of Occupancy have been reissued.
A total of 5 Apartment Unit Inspections have been completed. There were 0 complaints.

Emergency Management Services (EMS)
- Attended Texas Emergency Management Conference in Fort Worth.
- Attended DeSoto 4th of July Planning meeting.
- Conducted the monthly required Federal Emergency Management Agency Integrated Public Alert Warning System IPAWS alert test.
- Monthly siren test was cancelled due to chance of severe weather.
Fire Administration
- Finalizing a fire alarm data report for the City Council to consider modifying the ordinance
- Chief Leary submitted a proposal to Jennifer Otey, Budget Administrator, on May 27, 2026 for a Fire Department Cost Recovery Program for City leadership to consider that bills insurance companies for services rendered for fire operations services. Coppel, Flower Mound, Mansfield, Wylie, Anna, and Watauga utilize this program in the Metroplex.
- EMS Division will be tracking the new First Due electronic patient care reporting approved by City Council on March 17, 2026, to ensure proposed deliverables are achieved. Once training is completed and implementation is initiated, a monthly update will be provided to City Management.
- Work on Texas Fire Chiefs Association Best Practices project. Making a lot of progress with 80% of the project completed at this point. Expected completion is 2026.
- Work on Insurance Services Office (ISO) project and will schedule an ISO inspection in 2027 to attain a Class 1 rating. Increasing monthly fire training to the required 16-hours a month starting in April 2026. Need a year of 16-hours a month of fire-related training to get full credit with ISO.

As part of the business recruitment and attraction strategy for commercial retail sites, the Economic Development staff attended the ICSC Las Vegas retail convention (May 18–20), one of the largest retail real estate events in the world, representing Duncanville with a two-person staff delegation supported by our real estate advisory partners at Catalyst Commercial. Combined, the team conducted approximately 15 brand meetings, site discussions, and organizational connections across the three-day event. Program Highlights:
Ayyye Line Dancing
Throughout the month of May participants were able to take advantage of a special $10 Line Dancing class promotion, encouraging residents to stay active while supporting their overall physical & mental wellness. The program concluded with 25 total monthly participants.
To conclude the month, participants enjoyed a Mental Health Awareness after-party where guests had the opportunity to socialize, engage in meaningful conversations, and build new friendships and community connections. The event highlighted the importance of physical activity, social engagement, and community support in promoting positive mental health.
Jazzercise
This past week, the Jazzercise program hosted a special Memorial Day-themed class. Participants enjoyed a complimentary workout while experiencing the same fun and engaging fitness program in an outdoor setting. The class provided a unique opportunity for community members to stay active, enjoy the beautiful weather, and celebrate Memorial Day alongside fellow participants.
Camp Highlight – B.O.S.S. Summer Camp
This week marks the kickoff of the B.O.S.S. Summer Camp. Through a partnership between the Duncanville Fieldhouse and the Duncanville Recreation Center, the B-Team campers ages 5–6 will visit the Recreation Center Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
During their time at the Recreation Center, campers will participate in a variety of programs, games, and recreational activities designed to keep them active, engaged, and having fun throughout the summer. This partnership provides campers with additional opportunities to experience Recreation Center amenities while creating memorable summer experiences.
Facility Highlight – New Gaming Area
The Recreation Center is proud to announce its newest amenity: a Gaming Lounge located in the facility lobby. The new space features a PlayStation 5 with popular titles such as NBA 2K and NCAA College Football, as well as a Nintendo Switch featuring family-friendly games including Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros.
We are excited to bring this new addition to the Recreation Center, providing members and guests with another fun activity to enjoy with family and friends. The Gaming Lounge also opens the door for future opportunities, including the potential development of youth and adult E-Sports leagues and gaming tournaments. This enhancement reflects our continued commitment to creating engaging recreational experiences for all ages.

Red, White, & Goals | July 3 & 4, 2026
The City of Duncanville is excited to host Red, White & Goals, a two-day community celebration taking place on July 3 and July 4, 2026. This unique event combines the excitement of soccer, family-friendly activities, patriotic festivities, and a spectacular Independence Day fireworks show, creating one of the City's premier annual celebrations.
The festivities begin on July 3 with Soccer Day and a Community Watch Party, featuring soccer-themed activities, interactive games, entertainment, vendors, and opportunities for residents and visitors to come together and celebrate the spirit of the game.
On July 4, the celebration continues with the annual Lions Club Parade at 9:00 a.m., followed by an evening of entertainment, food vendors, market vendors, family activities, community engagement opportunities, and conclude with a spectacular fireworks display.
As planning continues, staff would like to remind residents that event wristbands are required for entry into designated event areas. To ensure a safe, enjoyable, and well-managed experience for all attendees, the city has implemented a registration process for wristbands. Registration allows staff to better plan for attendance, staffing, parking, public safety resources, and event amenities.
Residents and visitors are strongly encouraged to register early and secure their wristbands as soon as possible. Space within designated event areas is limited, and wristband availability may be restricted as capacity is reached. Early registration will help attendees avoid delays and guarantee access to the celebration. Pick up for wristbands begins 6/29 at the Rec Center and City Hall. Please have your QR codes ready to show our staff in order to receive them.

Construction Notice
The City of Duncanville is starting construction! Please anticipate increased traffic and delays in the area. Construction will begin on April 25, 2026, with an estimated completion of mid- May 2027. Please note that rocky soil conditions and weather can impact the scheduled timeline.
Who: Residents of Duncanville
What: Project: The project consists of the reconstruction of roadway paving, drainage, water, wastewater, sidewalk, and pedestrian improvements.
Where: North Cedar Ridge Drive from Cathy Self-Morgan Way/Middale to W. Camp Wisdom Road.
When: April 25, 2026, through mid-May 2027.
Why: To repair the roadway and utilities that have exceeded their lifetime and provide better service and safety to the residents and public.

Street Division
- Crews cut and removed overgrown hedges on the bridge on North Cockrell Hill Road.
- Crew cleaned 10 storm drains in the city limits.
- Crews trimmed and removed low‑hanging tree branches obstructing the roadway on East Cherry Street.
- Crew repaired seven potholes at various locations throughout the city.
- Crew completed seven utility drainage locates across various locations citywide.
- Crew provided support for the fire truck pull event on James Collins Boulevard by placing and retrieving traffic control devices.
- Crews utilized the brush truck to assist with bulk and brush hauling operations across the city.
Utilities Division
- From May 25-31, 2026, 31,349,100 gallons of water were pumped. The estimated water loss for that week was 437,619 gallons.
- Advanced Metering Infrastructure Project – The kick-off meeting was held on May 14, 2026. Staff is gathering all information and paperwork to begin installing the meters on July 20, 2026.
- Summit Generator – the contractor is scheduled to install the soft start equipment on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 10:00 am.
- FY 25-26 Pipe Bursting/C.I.P.P. Project – The contractor is scheduled to install a 10” liner on Willowbrook on June 3 & 4, 2026. No-Dig subcontract began pipebursting the sewer laterals on Falling Leaves.
