Jurisdiction

In general, the Municipal Court of Duncanville has jurisdiction for offenses occurring within the city limits that are violations of a municipal ordinance or violations of a state statute. State statutes enforced in the Court include the Texas Penal Code, the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code, the Texas Health Code, and the Safety Code.

The Municipal Court handles Class C Misdemeanor offenses which are punishable by fine only.

Fine Amounts

The amount of fine the court assesses is determined by the facts and circumstances of the case.

Usual Maximum Fines

Court Costs

In addition to the fine, court costs mandated by law will also be charged. These charges vary according to the kind of violation. Court costs are assessed if you plead nolo contendere or if your case is deferred for defensive driving or probation.

Failure to Appear
