POLICE DEPARTMENT

Congratulations to Detective David Moon, who celebrated 30 years of service with the Duncanville Police Department. 

Interim Chief Matt Stogner and Assistant Chief Chris Freis visited the Duncanville ISD Police Department to show our appreciation for their hard work during National School Resource Officer Day. 

Interim Chief Matt Stogner and Crime Prevention Officer Michele Arias visited with the residents of Champions Cove. This is part of a newly created program, “Conchas with a Cop,” where officers break bread with our senior living community members.

Monica Jones was hired as our newest Animal Control Officer. She is currently training with Senior Animal Control Officer Chad Chamberlain.


FISCAL SERVICES

Accounting & Reporting – Weeks of February 15 – February 21: 

  • EFT Payments: 39 invoices were processed, totaling $405,301.15

Approximately 110 guests joined us for this year’s Daddy-Daughter Dance. This year’s new activities - S'mores Bar and Candyland floor game- were big hits. The 360-photo booth was also a popular attraction throughout the night. Guests also enjoyed the craft activities, Henna artist, photo backdrop, and DJ. We can’t wait to see everyone next year.

DEVELOPMENT SERVICES

Economic Development – Certificates of Occupancy Issued:

PUBLIC WORKS

Street Division 

The drainage project on Roundtop Blvd. to improve drainage flow in the area has been completed. Culverts were upgraded, four drive approaches were replaced, and the 515 and 527 Roundtop Blvd. drainage ditches were reshaped.

CIP Construction
SYB Construction has completed the project. The final pay application and release of retention are being processed.

Fire Station 271

  • CORE Construction is continuing to complete punch list items.
  • CORE Construction is scheduling final building inspections.
  • Reapplication of the apparatus bay floor has been completed.
  • Installation of the perimeter fence will begin within 1-2 weeks.

Cherry Alley Phase 1
CCGMG continues with sub-grade preparation.

E. Danieldale Rd. Reconstruction and Utility Improvements Project

  • The project is substantially complete; staff is working with the contractor to complete all remaining items.
  •  Pavecon is scheduled to start preparation for the landscape final inspection.
  •  Final project acceptance is expected by late February/early March.
  •  Pavecon will reapply herbicide to remove weeds to place hydro mulch.
  •  Completion of the monument is scheduled for the last week in February.

Summit Pump Generator

 The Duncanville City Council awarded the contract for the furnishing and installation of a standby generator for the Summit Water Pump Station to Texan Municipal and Industrial, a division of Texan Electric Co., Inc., on October 17, 2023. Staff held the preconstruction meeting with the contractor on Monday, February 19th. The notice to proceed was issued to the contractor this week, and mobilization should begin within the next few weeks. Completion of this project is subject to the lead time necessary to obtain the generator.

Ten Mile Creek Embankment and Drainage Improvements

The City Council awarded the contract for embankment and drainage improvements along Ten Mile Creek to Stoic Civil Construction, Inc., on November 21, 2023. Staff held the preconstruction meeting with the contractor on Tuesday, February 20th. The notice to proceed will be issued to the contractor this week, and mobilization should begin within the next few weeks.

Wren Ave. and Oriole Blvd. Water Main Replacement I-20 Aerial Crossing

The Duncanville City Council awarded the contract for utility infrastructure improvements along Wren Ave. from Oriole Blvd. to Winding Trl. to Texas Standard Construction Ltd. on November 21, 2023. Staff held the preconstruction meeting with the contractor on Monday, February 19th. The notice to proceed was issued to the contractor this week, and mobilization should begin within the next few weeks.

TxDOT I20 Construction Cockrell Hill Rd to Hampton Rd.

Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) I20 Construction Cockrell Hill Rd to Hampton Rd. TXDOT is constructing new service roads and ramps from Cockrell Hill Rd in Duncanville to Hampton Rd in Dallas, including new bridges across US-67. This project also includes construction by TXDOT of a Texas U-Turn at US 67 and Cockrell Hill Rd on the southwest side of the bridge, which is projected to be completed by 2024, barring any unforeseen conditions. The entire project has an estimated completion date of September 2025.
